HSA in a Nutshell
The Honors Student Association is Western's only Registered Student Organization that's dedicated to the members of the Lee Honors College. All members of the Lee Honors College are members of HSA, and we encourage you to exercise that membership regularly.
HSA is a hybrid organization; while most organizations focus on volunteer work or academic pursuits or social engagements, HSA does all of the above (what do you expect from a group of overachievers?)
Social
The Honors Student Association provides a wide assortment of social pursuits for Honors students: the Fall Welcome program, Movie Nights in the Shilling TV Lounge, monthly GA Events, Honors College-sponsored trips to Chicago and Grand Rapids, and much more.
We also host the Honors College Homecoming Dance. Now in it's second year, the Homecoming Dance is the premiere social event of the fall. Look for more information on this event in the coming months!
Volunteer/Service
One thing that we've found about Honors students is that they have a passion for giving back to their community and their world. HSA supports this passion through a variety of volunteer events throughout the year.
Whether it's cleaning up a stretch of highway, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, or helping in a local soup kitchen, it's easy to find ways to give back.
Academic
HSA hosts a number of events geared to foster academic development and promote intellectual growth. One example of these programs is Dinner with the Deans, a bi-annual Sunday evening dinner with the deans of the Lee Honors College.
Students get a chance to meet and talk with the dean of the Honors College. It's an opportunity very few students have (and the free food doesn't hurt, either.)
